Mixed Media Paper/Canvas
Spray paint and rain water on paper or canvas have recently become my most frequented painting media. Its rapid-fire and portable capabilities, allow me to work quick and intermittently, crafting a painting outside of the studio. Subject matter is gathered through daily walks in our city blocks and compositions coalesce from power lines and freeways.
These interchanges were cut through our neighborhood in a time where blocks of urban areas were targeted for ‘blight’. The looming structures became invisible walls between communities. Embracing this space, these paintings experiment with the concept of beauty and sentiment in a manmade landscape.
